Vol. 263 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Work Permits.

42.

asked the Minister for Labour whether under the terms of this country's entry into the EEC any restrictions or limitations will exist with regard to the issuance of work permits for migrant workers from member countries; and whether any provision exists whereby Irish workers will be given priority for job vacancies.

The existing provisions regarding the issue of work permits to employ foreign workers will continue until 31st December, 1977. Work permits are normally granted only where suitable Irish workers are not available.
