Vol. 263 No. 3

Written Answers. - ESB Charges.

446.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if permission was given to the ESB to raise their fixed charges; if so, when and the amount of the increase.

Following consideration by the National Prices Commission the ESB were permitted to increase charges from 1st June, 1972 so as to secure an overall increase in revenue of 9 per cent. The consequential adjustment of the board's tariffs is under the Electricity Supply Acts the responsibility of the board. In implementing the increase in the general level of charges the board has reduced substantially the number of different levels of fixed charges for both rural and urban supply involving increases in some cases and reductions in others.

Full details of all the charges in the board's tariffs are shown in leaflets published by the board and available through any ESB Office.
