asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of an outbreak of trichinosis in pigs in County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following recent reports of the diagnosis of trichinosis in humans in the Cork area the veterinary examination of pig carcases in slaughtering premises in the area has been intensified but has failed to reveal the presence of trichinae in any case.
