The recent Council meeting held a detailed exchange of views and debate on the question of the Community's trade and economic relations with the various Mediterranean countries and in particular on the formulation of an overall approach to the problem. I put forward certain views on this matter.
The meeting arrived at conclusions in the form of working assumptions, which will be examined further. The matter will be considered again at the next Council meeting.
