Vol. 263 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance.

9.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why, in relation to a claim by a person (name supplied) in County Galway for unemployment assistance, it was stated by an official of his Department on Monday, 6th November, 1972, that the file in this case was sent to Galway and on 8th November it was claimed by the Department that no such file existed; and what steps it is proposed to take to have this matter resolved.

No claim or communication of any kind from the person referred to in relation to unemployment assistance can be traced in the headquarters of my Department or in any of the three County Galway local offices of the Department of Labour which might be concerned.

Exhaustive inquiries have failed to establish that any official gave wrong information in reply to telephone inquiries made about the case by a representative of the Deputy. To resolve the matter, the necessary forms have now been issued to the person named to enable him to apply for a qualification certificate and for unemployment assistance.
