Vol. 263 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit.

18.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person (name supplied) in County Donegal has been refused unemployment benefit.

The claim to unemployment benefit from 28th June, 1972, by the person in question was disallowed by a deciding officer on the ground that the statutory condition for receipt of unemployment benefit which requires a claimant to be available for employment was not satisfied. The decision of the deciding officer was upheld by an appeals officer after an oral hearing on 24th August, 1972, at which the claimant attended and gave evidence.

Further submissions since made by the claimant through the Deputy have been placed before the appeals officer to consider whether they contain any new facts or fresh evidence which would warrant a revision of his decision.
