asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state the source of information on farm accidents in the period 1962-68 as recorded in the Inter-Departmental Committee Report on Agricultural Wages and Holiday Legislation; and, having regard to a reply of 7th November, 1972, if he will indicate when the decision was made to discontinue the recording of farm accidents.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state (a) the date on which statistics on farm accidents were last published in the farm bulletin and (b) the details of accidents on that date.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 52 and 54 together.

The information referred to was supplied by the Central Statistics Office. I have no function in regard to the collection of statistics of farm accidents. Statistics of fatal farm accidents as supplied by the Central Statistics Office, were last published in my Department's farm bulletin in February, 1968. They related to the year 1967. As the details are in the form of a tabular statement, I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate the statement in the Official Report.
