Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Limerick Corporation Pensioner.

189.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give consideration to the case of a Limerick Corporation pensioner (name and details supplied) in respect of whom a period of illness was not reckoned for superannuation purposes despite the fact that he was allowed service pay while ill.

The making of a superannuation award is a matter for the local authority concerned subject to a person's right of appeal to me under the superannuation legislation where he is aggrieved by the local authority decision. I have received no appeal from the pensioner referred to by the Deputy but I am having the case investigated and I will communicate with him in the matter as soon as possible.
