Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Kerry Pier.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if improvements will be carried out at Kilmackillogue harbour and pier in Tuosist, County Kerry, to cater for the increased landings of fish; if he will arrange for lights on the pier; and if he will state the present position regarding these proposals.

I have made an offer of State grants to the Kerry County Council towards the costs of installing two pier lights and two navigational lights on Kilmackillogue Pier and also for the erection of ten perches on dangerous rocks in the Kenmare River adjacent to the harbour. Arrangements will be made to carry out these works if, and when, the council accepts the offer on the conditions specified.

No other improvement works at Kilmackillogue are contemplated at present.

Has the Parliamentary Secretary ever visited the pier at Tuosist?

What does the Parliamentary Secretary think of the fish landings there? How much fish has been landed there in recent years?

I would need notice of that question.

I can tell the Parliamentary Secretary something. This pier has been out of commission for years. That is all bunk.
