Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Dublin Industrial Employment.

49.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of new industries established in the past year in the Ballyfermot area, Dublin; and the total employment provided by these industries.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that construction commenced during the past year on one new industry expansion project in the Ballyfermot area. Total extra employment involved at full production is 300 men.

50.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is satisfied that sufficient co-ordination exists between his Department and the Department of Labour with respect to providing employment through the provision of new industries in and around the Dublin area.

The Industrial Development Authority work in close co-operation with the Department of Labour so as to ensure that they are aware of the current employment position and future employment needs not only in Dublin but throughout the country as a whole. I am satisfied that this arrangement is working satisfactorily.
