Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Official Visits Abroad.

109.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) the number of visits abroad by him since 1st September, 1971, and (b) the purpose and total cost of each visit.

I travelled abroad on official business on four occasions in the period in question: to Bulgaria and Germany in September, 1971, the purpose of which was export promotion; to Brussels in September, 1972, for consultations on EEC matters at Ministerial and Commissioner levels; to Japan in October, 1972, and to Sweden in November, 1972, for industrial promotion purposes.

Information about my expenses on the visit to Bulgaria and Germany has already been given in a reply to the Deputy by the Parliamentary Secretary to an Taoiseach on 17th November, 1971. My expenses for the visit to Brussels were £134.56. Full particulars of the cost of my recent visits to Japan and Sweden are not yet available.
