Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Dublin Armed Robberies.

141.

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been drawn to a recent court case statement that armed robberies are an everyday occurrence in Dublin at present; and whether any extra security precautions are under consideration.

I have seen reports of the statement referred to in the question. The number of armed robberies committed in Dublin in the three month period ending on 10th November was 21.

As I have previously informed the House, the question of security precautions is one for the Garda Síochána. The Garda are, in fact, taking special preventive measures at present but it would not be in the public interest for me to give any information about them.
