Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Free Travel Facilities.

5.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider the issue of cards for travel purposes to old age pensioners in the event of pension books being held by the authorities of the home or hospital in which they reside.

It is a matter for pensioners who find themselves in this situation to make arrangements with the home or other authority concerned so that they may have the use of the pension book when required for free travel purposes. Travel cards are not at present issued to holders of pension books but I have the question under consideration and expect to be in a position to make an announcement in the matter before long.
