Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Public House Licences.

151.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has received a recommendation from the National Prices Commission to liberalise the granting of public house licences; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to protect the interests of those who have already made substantial investments in public house properties.

I have received no such recommendation. I presume the Deputy is referring to observations and recommendations relating to the licensed trade made in the eleventh monthly report to the Minister for Industry and Commerce of the National Prices Commission, which was published recently.

As no decision has been taken to introduce legislation to amend the Intoxicating Liquor Acts, the second part of the question does not arise.
