Vol. 263 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farming Population.

2.

asked the Taoiseach the number of farmers in the Republic on 1st January, 1972, with over £5 poor law valuation.

The latest available information is that obtained from the 1966 census of population and, because of the groupings used in classifying the material, it is not possible to draw a dividing line at £5 valuation. The number of farmers with holdings of between £4 and £7 valuation was 17,744 while the number with holdings of valuation £7 or over was 160,228.
