Vol. 263 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment Agencies.

29.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will outline the degree of co-ordination, if any, between his Department and private employment agencies.

Under the Employment Agency Act employment agencies will be required to furnish to my Department information on the numbers of registrants and of vacancies notified and filled so that more complete information on the labour supply and demand situation will be available to the Department.

How well is that working at the present time?

It is at a very early stage yet. The period for applications for licences does not expire until 1st December.

What progress has been made to date?

The first step is to have these agencies licensed and the period for applications for licences does not expire until 1st December so, in effect, what I have described is not operating yet.
