asked the Minister for Local Government the changes likely in motor insurance policy requirements after this country's entry into the EEC.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Insurance.
170.
The only change currently at issue is that, in accordance with directive No. 72/166 of the 24th April, 1972, and the transitional period negotiated, all motor insurance policies are to give Community-wide cover for third party risks from 1st January, 1974.
Would that involve any increase in the rate of the insurance premiums, given that the coverage will be larger?
I do not think it should. I can only give the Deputy my own opinion and I do not think it should involve any increase.
