Vol. 263 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Air Pollution Directive.

171.

asked the Minister for Local Government the implications for existing Irish law and practice, in so far as road traffic is concerned, of the EEC directive on pollution caused by diesel engines.

The provisions of the directive are being examined by my Department. The evidence so far is that the directive will have no significant implications for existing statutory controls on motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Acts.

Have we got in operation controls of similar stringency to those proposed by the EEC?
