asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of each year since 1961 (a) the total amount paid out for game and wild life preservation and improvement, (b) the number of schemes to which (a) applied, (c) if he will give details of each such scheme and (d) the number of game councils that were active in the country.

I presume the Deputy is referring to schemes for development of game resources operated by regional game councils with the aid of grants from my Department. The information requested at (a), (b) and (d) is contained in the attached schedule. As regards (c), each regional game council submits a composite scheme: it would not be practicable to set out details of each scheme individually, but generally speaking, the schemes contain proposals in support of a variety of needs including game-rearing and restocking, habitat improvement, predator control et cetera.
