Vol. 263 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Minimum Family Income.

15.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether his attention has been drawn to the recommendation of the Council for Social Welfare that a minimum family income should be guaranteed and that fragmentation in the social services should be ended; and whether any action is contemplated.

A copy of the report of the Council for Social Welfare was sent to the Minister for Finance for consideration in connection with the preparation of the Fourth Programme for Economic and Social Development. I have no doubt that the views contained therein will be duly considered.

Would the Minister say whether any decision would be transmitted to the Council for Social Welfare?

I think the Deputy may take it that any decisions in this or any other regard will be published in due course.

Has the Minister any idea when this will be introduced?

Would the Deputy be a little more precise?

Would the Minister have any idea when this will be introduced?

I could not say.
