Table 20 of the most recent edition of the quarterly bulletin of housing statistics issued by my Department shows that in 1970-71 local authorities provided approximately £5,000,000 from rates to meet losses on local authority housing. It is estimated that in the current financial year the corresponding figure will be of the order of £7 million.
