Vol. 264 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Pay Agreements.

51.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of wage fixing bodies functioning under the Industrial Relations Acts which have implemented the national pay agreements; and if he will state, in view of the fact that minimum rates were prescribed by these bodies, whether any legal difficulties were experienced in the implementation of the national pay agreements.

Each of the 18 active joint labour committees have made proposals for increases in remuneration similar to those provided for in the first phase of the national agreement prepared by the Employer-Labour Conference in December, 1970. These proposals have been confirmed by the Labour Court through the making of the appropriate employment regulation orders.

I am not aware of any legal difficulties in the operation of these orders.
