Vol. 264 No. 3

Written Answers. - Citizens' Advice Centres.

106.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider establishing citizens advice centres throughout the country to assist individuals to secure their rights from Government Departments and local authorities.

The White Paper on Local Government Reorganisation contained a proposal that local authorities might maintain local offices throughout the country, that these could, inter alia, function as information offices so far as local services are concerned and that it might be possible to extend their role gradually by making information available at the offices on other public services. The establishment of such offices will be further considered in conjunction with the preparation of legislative and other proposals arising out of the White Paper.
