Vol. 264 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Warble Fly Scheme.

33.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will subsidise the dressing of cattle under the warble fly eradication scheme.

The charge for the dressing of cattle for warbles is so modest in relation to the value of cattle and the benefits from dressing are so considerable that the payment of any subsidy towards the cost of the dressing could not be justified.

In 1971 I made a substantial contribution towards the expenses of the AI bodies in the operation of the scheme and I am repeating the contribution this year.
