asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of occupational injuries known to have occurred in each of the past three years, indicating by sampling or otherwise, the number of injuries which occurred in Agriculture.

The number of occupational injuries in respect of which benefit under the Social Welfare (Occupational Injuries) Act, 1966 was paid or in respect of which declarations were made under section 29 of the Act in each of the financial years 1969/70, 1970/71 and 1971/72 was 10,744, 10,081 and 11,136 respectively. It is estimated that of these injuries 900, 600 and 800 respectively, occurred in agricultural employment.
