asked the Minister for Health the number of children in the mildly mentally handicapped category awaiting admission to care centres at the latest available date.

I presume the Deputy's question relates to residential centres.

On 31st March, 1972, the number of mildly mentally handicapped children awaiting admission to such centres was 74.

11.

asked the Minister for Health the total number of persons (a) severely mentally handicapped (b) moderately mentally handicapped and (c) mildly mentally handicapped registered at present as receiving treatment and care in this country at the latest available date.

There is not a register of the mentally handicapped but details of the numbers receiving care and treatment in residential and day centres is contained in a tabular statement which I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.
