Vol. 264 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pension Schemes.

38.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of (a) State-sponsored and (b) private occupational pension schemes in operation in the Republic; and the number of men and women covered by such schemes.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply I made to the same question on 7th November, 1972.

The number of occupational pension schemes for State-sponsored bodies, in respect of which I have statutory functions, is 28. There were 27,356 men and 2,902 women covered by such schemes on 1st October, 1972.

39.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of (a) State-sponsored and (b) private occupational pension schemes which encompass transferability of benefits; and the number of men and women in the Republic who enjoy this benefit.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply I made to the same question on 7th November, 1972.

The pension schemes of 32 State-sponsored bodies encompass transferability of benefits and 79 men and 30 women have benefited from the transfer of pension rights.

Is it possible to get statistics about the number of private pension schemes?

I have no function at all in relation to them. I have not got that information.

It is not possible to get it?
