Vol. 264 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Business in the following order: Nos. 5, 6, 20, 8, 18, 9, 19 and 21 and in No. 21 Votes 34, 35 and 42.

On the Order of Business, could I ask the Taoiseach if he is yet in a position to say whether it is proposed to set up the all-party committee to deal with EEC decisions and directives before the Christmas recess?

I understand the Whips are discussing that at the moment. If possible, it will be set up before Christmas. We are ready to contribute our quota of names to the committee.

With your permission, Sir, I wish to raise the subject matter of recent questions of mine on thalidomide on the Adjournment.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

Could the Taoiseach indicate to the House how soon we may expect to have Private Members' Time?

Normally when financial business is finished.

But it is never finished.

When might we have it in the next session?

I cannot say at this stage. It depends on the business.

Surely it was done before, after discussion by the Whips, when financial business was on.

When Deputies on the other side talk for four or five hours on Estimates, it is very difficult to comply with such a request.

We could meet more often.

Or talk less often.
