Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Security Drill.

59.

asked the Minister for Defence whether any security drill procedure in leaflet form has been distributed to industrial managements; whether he is satisfied with the level of security consciousness amongst office and other employees in city work-places; and whether co-operation with trade unions has been sought to secure as high a level of preparedness as possible.

Presumably the Deputy has in mind security measures against bombing attacks of the kind recently experienced in the country. Such measures are primarily a matter for the Garda authorities to whom the fullest assistance of the Civil Defence organisation is available. Civil Defence instructors are also available to train industrial staffs in Civil Defence techniques, which would undoubtedly be valuable in bombing situations. Managements have recently been offered such training for their staffs.
