asked the Minister for Local Government the drugs other than alcohol which affect capacity in driving a motor vehicle; and if there are tests to confirm or rule out such drugs as being directly or indirectly responsible for road accidents.

There is no scientific evidence at present available in this country as to the extent to which the taking of drugs is a factor in road accidents. The Medical Bureau of Road Safety is, however, taking steps to extend its analytical work to drug analysis.
