Vol. 264 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vocational Training Policy.

14.

asked the Minister for Labour the broad contents and implications for Ireland of the EEC Commission proposals for a common vocational training policy.

General guidelines for the development of vocational training at community level were accepted by the Council of the EEC on 26th July, 1971. Ireland's policy as expressed in the Industrial Training Act, 1967, appears to be in general conformity with these guidelines.

A draft of preliminary measures to implement the guidelines is being considered by the Council of Ministers of the EEC. The implications for Ireland of these draft measures are being examined.

Will the Minister state in what respect, if any, the practices of AnCO are out of line with the guidelines agreed by the Community?

They are not out of line.
