Vol. 264 No. 8

Vote 2: Houses of the Oireachtas.

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £1,080,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1973, for the salaries and expenses of the Houses of the Oireachtas, including certain grants-in-aid.

Could the Leas-Cheann Comhairle let us know whether any effort is to be made to bring the staff of the Houses up to the establishment? We have reached the stage now where, I understand, very little filing is being done, very little recording is being done, and it takes a week or almost a week to get out the Official Report.

I understand that the matter is being attended to.

Will we have a chance of discussing this Estimate later?

Next year.

There is a token Estimate for all these Estimates. They will be discussed next year.

Each one separately? There are some Estimates which have not been discussed since the beginning of this Dáil.

Question put and agreed to.
