Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Exports of Meat.

33.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the present position in regard to the establishment of a voluntary export marketing body or bodies for pork, bacon, beef, mutton and lamb; if his Department have discussed the matter with any of the interests concerned in the past two months; and, if so, when and with whom.

I had a discussion in this matter last April with representatives of the meat trade associations, producers' organisations, the Pigs and Bacon Commission and CBE. Since then a number of individual discussions have taken place with some of these interests. No final conclusions have yet emerged in the matter, which is primarily one for the trading interests concerned.
