Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Pyramid Selling.

44.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there has been any increase in the number of companies engaged in pyramid selling in recent weeks; and, if so, if he will give details.

As far as I am aware there has been no increase in the number of such companies and only one company, which is engaged in distributing cosmetics, has introduced this method of salesmanship to Ireland. As I have already indicated in a reply to a previous question on the 30th November, 1972, I am keeping the matter under review. I would like to take this opportunity to repeat my exhortation to people who may feel tempted to become involved in pyramid selling, to consider the position and prospects very carefully beforehand.
