Vol. 265 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drug Prices.

19.

asked the Minister for Health if he has any control over the price paid by State institutions for two drugs (names supplied).

The prices paid by health boards for these drugs are the normal trade prices, less agreed discounts. Trade prices are subject to the controls exercisable by the Minister for Industry and Commerce under the Prices Acts, 1958 to 1972. I understand from that Minister, who will also be replying to a question on this matter, that the National Prices Commission are at present examining the prices charged for the two drugs in question.
