Vol. 265 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - VHI Treatment Units.

25.

asked the Minister for Health if he considers that the minimum number of treatment units recommended by the Voluntary Health Insurance Board will prove to be adequate.

I understand that the minimum number of treatment units recommended to subscribers by the Voluntary Health Insurance Board is based on the current level of medical and surgical fees submitted with claims received by the board. The board's minimum recommendations do, therefore, I am assured, provide adequate protection in the vast majority of situations. Many subscribers hold more than a minimum number of units, thus giving themselves added security.
