Written Answers. - North County Dublin Garda Strength.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will increase the number of gardaí stationed at Swords, County Dublin, in view of the vast increase of population in the area.

The Garda strength in Swords has been continually increased and has risen from one sergeant and seven gardaí in 1968 to two sergeants and 12 gardaí at the moment.

The latest increase took place on 15th April, 1973, when an extra garda was assigned to the station.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will increase the number of gardaí stationed at Lusk, County Dublin, in view of the present proposed growth in this area.

I am informed by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, that he proposes to assign an additional garda to Lusk in the near future.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will sanction the provision of a Garda station in the rapidly expanding area of Portmarnock, County Dublin.

I am informed by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána that he does not consider that a Garda station is required in Portmarnock at present. The situation, however, will be kept under review.
