Vol. 265 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Land Proposals.

153.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if the Government supports the proposals to freeze between 12 and 24 million acres of productive EEC land in order to avoid too large a discrepancy between the supply of and demand for agricultural produce by 1980.

I am informed that no such proposal has been made by the EEC Commission or is under study by any Community institution.

I read all the EEC publications and this certainly was reported as being a proposal put before the EEC Commission to be decided upon eventually by the Ministers. I should like to know if the Minister is aware of this. I read it. If the Minister is not reading all the publications he is failing in his duty.

Perhaps the Deputy might supply the Minister with a copy.

It is sent out to all. The Minister does not read all the documents sent to him.
