Vol. 265 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kennedy Memorial Concert Hall.

115.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is yet in a position to make a statement on the future of the Kennedy Memorial Concert Hall.

As the Deputy will appreciate, I have, since taking office, been preoccupied mainly with budgetary and allied matters. I have not yet had the opportunity of considering this matter but I intend to do so as soon as possible.

I hope the Minister will appreciate that my question was not put down with any intention of embarrassing him or forcing him to any precipitate conclusion in this matter, but there are a number of people who are very interested in this whole idea of a concert hall for Dublin and they are anxious to know, as soon as possible, what the future is likely to be. I would be grateful if the Minister, as soon as he can find time to look into the matter, would let me know what the position is.

I appreciate what the Deputy has said. I agree with him; I do not think it would serve the concert hall project any good to have further delay in this matter, whatever the decision might be.
