Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arterial Drainage Study.

116.

asked the Minister for Finance if he now has the results of the cost benefit study regarding arterial drainage which was put in hand about a year ago; if so, whether the position of arterial drainage will be improved in so far as national priorities are concerned; and if expenditure under this head, particularly for the west of Ireland, will be increased.

Mr. Kenny

The answer to the first part of the question is "no". The study is nearing completion and I expect the report on it shortly.

Again in relation to the Book of Estimates, would the Parliamentary Secretary agree that the amount provided will do no more than continue the Boyne and probably get a start on the Maigue?

Mr. Kenny

That is envisaged already. The Maigue will probably start this year.

And that is all? Nothing in the west of Ireland?

Mr. Kenny

We have not finished with the cost/benefit survey yet.
