Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo River Silting.

118.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the silting on the banks of the River Moy in the section inside the urban area of Ballina, County Mayo; and the action he proposes to take to relieve the position.

Mr. Kenny

Silting has always been a natural feature in the River Moy at this part. The Commissioners of Public Works are obliged under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, to maintain this stretch of channel as an effective drainage outfall for the Moy drainage scheme and this they propose to do. They have no other proposals in the matter.
