Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drimnagh (Dublin) Castle

119.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will declare Drimnagh Castle, Dublin, a national monument.

Mr. Kenny

Drimnagh Castle is a monument of considerable interest and, if offered to the State for preservation as a national monument, would merit consideration as such. I am not aware that it is in any immediate danger and, with present resources fully extended in dealing with monuments already in State care, I would see no point at the present time in approaching the owners with a view to its preservation by the State.
