Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Consumer Advisory Councils.

136.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when he proposes to set up consumer advisory councils in the areas of the Post Office, the ESB and CIE as outlined in the NPC Occasional Paper published in June, 1972.

The National Prices Commission's Occasional Paper, to which the Deputy refers, was published in June of last year as a discussion paper only and the Commission invited submissions from all interested parties on the contents of that paper. I understand that the Commission have now formulated their conclusions on the subject of consumer advisory councils in the light of the submissions subsequently furnished, and that they propose to have these conclusions published in the very near future. Any recommendations made by the Commission will require, of course, to be considered in full by the Ministers concerned.
