Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Archaeological Excavations.

30.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make a general statement on the archaeological dig at Christ Church Place, Dublin; when the excavations are likely to cease; and if he will ensure that the part of the old Dublin wall that has been discovered will be preserved.

Mr. R. Burke

Excavation work at Christ Church Place was begun in October 1972, and it is estimated that this work will continue until the end of 1973 at least. No remains of the old Dublin wall have been discovered in the Christ Church Place site.

My information is quite different. May I observe that officials of Dublin Corporation went as far as Copenhagen to see how the Roman walls were preserved there so that they might be able to preserve the Dublin wall which has been discovered during the excavations at Christ Church Place.
