Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Hospital.

63.

asked the Minister for Health if a decision has yet been taken regarding the future of Saint Catherine's Hospital, Pigeon House Road, Dublin.

The future of St. Catherine's Hospital must be considered in the context of the re-organisation of the Dublin hospital services as a whole. I would refer the Deputy to my comprehensive reply of 28th March to Parliamentary Questions about the hospital development programme.

The situation in summary is that, until the new administrative bodies in the health field have reviewed how the basic considerations in the FitzGerald Report might be applied in detail in particular areas, it would be premature to make decisions regarding individual hospitals.

In the meantime, St. Catherine's will continue to be used for the accommodation of patients from the Meath Hospital.
