Vol. 265 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Housing Grant.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a person (name supplied) in County Laois is awaiting a first inspection with a view to payment of the first half of his new house grant since October 1972 and that the file is with the inspector since 26th October last; and if he will explain why the inspection has not yet taken place.

This house has now been inspected. A grant of £300 has been allocated and an instalment of £200 has been paid.

I regret that there was some delay in dealing with this case. The delay arose through the growth in the number of applications in the past year and a shortage of inspectors throughout the country. Arrangements are being made to recruit additional inspectors.
