Vol. 266 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drug Addiction.

188.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government agree that the Council of Europe should set up a special multi-disciplinary committee of experts on drug addiction whose first task would be to define the Council of Europe's role in this field as proposed by the Consultative Assembly: and whether it will send appropriate instructions to its representative on the Committee of Ministers.

The Consultative Assembly's recommendations regarding the establishment of a Multi-disciplinary Committee of Experts on Drug Dependence is still under consideration by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. As the proceedings of the Committee are confidential, it would be inappropriate, at this stage, to discuss the Government's attitude to the recommendation.
