Vol. 266 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick County Council Overseers.

81.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a recommendation has been made by the Labour Court in connection with county council overseers in Limerick; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

On the 14th February, 1973, the Labour Court recommended that the travelling allowances of all county council overseers be increased as from 1st April, 1972, and 1st April, 1973. Generally this recommendation provided that the existing weekly travelling allowance of £1.25 be increased, depending on mileage travelled, to amounts ranging between £2 and £3 per week as from 1st April, 1972, and that as from 1st April, 1973, travelling expenses on a mileage basis be paid in line with those payable to local authority officers generally. A proposal providing for the implementation of this recommendation was received in my Department from Limerick County Council on the 15th June, 1973, and was approved on the 19th June, 1973.
