Vol. 266 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Hospital Extension.

1.

asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding the extension to Barrington's Hospital, Limerick.

The future structure of acute hospital re-organisation in the country is at present under consideration by me in consultation with the administrative bodies which were recently set up. I regret that, in view of this, it is not possible for me to take a decision with regard to this project at present.

The Deputy will appreciate that any question of the extension of this hospital will need to be looked at in relation to its future role in the provision of hospital services in Limerick. This wider question is under consideration by the different health administrative bodies concerned and, when I receive their views and decide on a reasonable programme of development, it should then be possible to determine what alterations to Barrington's Hospital would be appropriate.

Questions Nos. 2 and 3 postponed.
