asked the Minister for Lands if lands which had been acquired by the Land Commission at Westport Demesne, County Mayo have been allocated to tenants in the Carroholly area; and if he will state (a) the number of tenants who received extra land and (b) the names of the tenants in question.

(Cavan): Some 281 acres of the lands acquired by the Land Commission in the area mentioned were recently allotted to 16 allottees.

The names of the allottees are: Patrick Golden, Patrick Moore, George Mortimer, Joseph R. Gill, Patrick Hopkins, Mchael M. Gibbons, Michael Regan, Kevin and Sally Brady, Michael O'Malley, Patrick C. Staunton, John Joyce, Patrick J. Gavin, Mary B. Moran, Thomas B. Reilly, Thomas Gibbons and Patrick Heraty.

asked the Minister for Lands the acreage of land in County Mayo for which the Land Commission are negotiating.

(Cavan): I assume what the Deputy requires is the area in County Mayo which is at present the subject of acquisition or purchase proceedings by the Land Commission. The answer is 8,800 acres, approximately, and of this negotiations on price are in progress in respect of 986 acres.

asked the Minister for Lands the acreage of land in the possession of the Land Commission in County Mayo.

(Cavan): The total area at present in possession of the Land Commission in County Mayo is 17,550 acres approximately of which about 6,150 are classified as arable.
